Winter is just fine

After living in the bay area for the last six years, winter in the gorge is a welcome. The lack of distinct seasons drove an entire set of clothes to storage in the back closet. In Half Moon Bay, the crops grew all year around and the temperature ranged from a low of 50 to a high of 75. The mild winters were nice, but I missed the golden leaves in the fall and the cold nip in the air.
I admit the cold winds, snow and rain are a bit uncomfortable at times and keeping warm is hard sometimes. All 0f this is background to the beautiful falls days and multi-colored leaves and the first light snowfalls that turn the gorge into a winter wonderland.
One bit of advice, a four wheel drive is essential equipment for life in the gorge. The weather will come in unexpectedly and catch everyone by surprise. With all of this, these times do not come often and do not stay long. Compared to the east, these winters are mild. Compared to the Bay Area, not so much.
I am still extremely pleased to be home.
